Velvac Introduces European Style side mirrors to North America- Bus Ride Magazine October 2009 Velvac has introduced two new mirror-camera vision systems that the company says will solve long-standing vision problems particular to shuttle buses. The 2020SS takes aim at a long list of concerns with current vision systems that include glass vibration, limited field-of-view and mirror damage, as well as aesthetics. The inverted mirrors on motor coaches feature long, side-mounted mirror arms. Velvac announces a new 2020 Shuttle Bus Mirror System.
Velvac, Inc. is pleased to announce the introduction of a new 2020SS mirror system for shuttle bus applications which combines the styling, durability and performance of our door mounted 2020 mirror, with our new, easy to install fender mounted 2020 mirror with a spring loaded pivot system. The mirror systems are available to fit both GM G-Van and Ford E-Van chassis in both 96” and 102” body widths with optional cameras, in-glass turn signal indicators, heated/remote for both flat and convex glass, adjustable home position and foldaway feature.
Velvac’s engineers achieved class-leading visibility and glass stability through a series of innovative design features aimed at improving the rigidity of the mirror system as well as minimizing vibration. The mirror arm and base include a heavy walled die cast construction utilizing OE tested materials and finishes to withstand tough shuttle bus duty cycles and climates. The Velvac deluxe mirror head provides a wider flat glass and larger convex providing a 40% larger field of view compared to typical shuttle bus mirrors used today. The larger field of view and the outstanding stability allows the mirrors to provide a clear image of the blind spots and passing lanes around the vehicle leading to improved safety and faster driver reaction time.

Velvac, Inc. is pleased to announce the introduction of a new wide body 2020XG mirror system designed to fit directly into the OEM door “sail area” on popular GM G Van, C4500 medium duty and other TopKick models, and Ford Econoline van chassis. The 96”and 102” wide models provide great styling and visibility for many wide body commercial cutaway van, ambulance, or Class C RV applications.
Velvac’s engineers achieved class-leading visibility and glass stability through a series of innovative design features aimed at improving the rigidity of the mirror system as well as dampening out unwanted vibration frequencies. The 2020XG mirror system utilizes a fully integrated base, arm, and mirror head for added stability and OE styling. An innovative pivot system allows mirrors to be folded forward or back and returned to a patentpending adjustable “home” position for easy vehicle storage and added safety. The advanced vibration dampening in mirror head insures clear visibility even on rough road surfaces. The mirror glass and mirror head are easily replaceable helping to reduce vehicle down time and service costs.
