Velvac Supports Race for the Cure

Sunday, September 23, 2012

With an estimated 12.5 million people in the US diagnosed with cancer, almost every one of us has had our lives touched by someone suffering from this devastating disease. And it is for this reason that Velvac has been such a strong supporter of efforts to further research and find a cure. On September 23rd for the 7th consecutive year, Velvac employees, family and friends formed Team Velvac to help raise funds for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Breast Cancer walk/run. Different this year from past years, there were several fund raisers prior to race day. On September 13th, a Packer vs Bear “tailgate” pep rally was held in the warehouse. Those employees who wanted to enjoy the pre-game tailgate lunch of hot dogs and chips made contributions toward the Komen Race. Office employees, who chose to wear their favorite team colors, also donated to this worthy cause. In addition, raffle tickets were sold for the chance to have your car washed by Jeff Porter and Tim Rintelman, Velvac CEO and CFO, respectively. And finally, on September 20th Velvacians held a bake sale, with all proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
