Backup Warning Devices Required in Delaware

Thursday, September 5, 2013

Heavy trucks based in Delaware will soon have to be equipped with devices that can warn drivers or bystanders when the vehicles are backing up. Gov. Jack Markell (D) signed the legislation Aug. 30, stating that all vehicles weighing more than 26,000 lbs. will require an audible reverse signal that bystanders can hear, or a warning system or backup camera that can tell a driver if the vehicle is at risk of hitting something while backing up. The requirement will take effect Jan. 1, 2014, and those who do not comply will be fined $75.

But by installing one of the several backup cameras or alarms offered by Velvac, drivers can avoid this $75 fine and operate their vehicle safely and without incident around other vehicles, pedestrians and obstacles. Velvac offers a complete line of back-up alarms, warning devices and switches to meet the needs of almost every application and work environment. From our heavy duty OEM-style alarms with patented double-reflex horn, to our broad line of speaker alarms, we have the right alarm to meet vehicle needs and price targets.

For an enhanced safety alternative, Velvac also offers a variety of rear vision cameras, including our exclusive flush-mounted backup camera, as well as adjustable block-style and fixed-mount cameras. The CMOS imaging technology integrated into our cameras significantly reduces the blooming effects caused by headlights and direct sunlight. The addition of infrared LEDs provides visibility in low or no light conditions.
